Have you ever prepared a posting that has taken up concentrated thinking with poetic and descriptive writing to describe a perfect autumns digging ?
I just did and the blogging server lost the lot.
Have you ever found the perfect blog to tell others about and then discovered it had nothing to do with allotments and gardening as a subject ?
I just did
What would you do to rid your despair at losing a creative posting when you could not remember what it was you had just written and you had not drafted it on paper ?
Tell you about that perfect blog
The blogger is Clare and she lives in Tunbridge Wells and appears to have a number of blogs on the go. The one that I have been drawn to is Three Beautiful Things and is the simplest of ideas. Each day she describes three things that has brought pleasure or joy to her daily life. You can imagine this being a short lived idea but I checked and discovered that she has been doing this since May 2004. I haven't checked for gaps in her daily blogging or for repetition, it all appears to be original. What fascinates me about this blog is the positive focus that it brings to taking stock of your day. Can you imagine coming home after a depressing and frustrating day in the office where you just want to flop and dismiss the world, then forcing yourself up to your computer to post three beautiful things that brought you pleasure that day.
Well after wanting to pick the computer up and throwing it out of the window after losing my perfect posting about autumn digging, here goes:
1 Working the soil and discovering the return of the worms
2 The joy of seeing a robin when he visited the workings to feed on the worms
3 Sipping hot tea while sitting on the patio amongst the creeping jenny and the nasturtiums
This is what my perfect lost posting was all about.

Thank you so much for the mention -- I'm very honoured. I'm convinced gardeners make the best Beautiful Thing finders because they are so used to spotting small joys. I hope you'll consider writing a few more 3BTs from time to time.

I have lost entire days worth of work. Forgot to hit "save". Fabulous recovery.
1. Feeling lonely and broke, and finding comfort in the well spun words of people like you and Clare.
2. The feel of my golden, satin, Chinese jacket, as if I had been painted by Gustav Klimt.
3. People whose screen names remind of me of beautiful things like, Garden Gnomes.

It is great fun coming across a blog that isn't solely devoted to gardens... while I love my garden and spend hours and hours in it and thinking about it, I love finding blogs that give me new ways to think about things. I am intrigued with the allotment idea ... it is really not very prevalent here and it should be.
